THE first and only composite liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder in the country by Eastern Petroleum Corporation is now here in Davao.

Joel Labado, Visayas-Mindanao area manager for Eastern Petroleum said in an interview that their first branch here in Davao started operating last June.

They currently have four branches here in the city located at Ma-a, Matina, Tibungco and Buhangin.

Eastern Composite (EC) gas manufactured by Eastern Petroleum, according to Labado, is their alternative to the traditional steel tank sold in the market.

EC gas LPG cylinders are made of patented composite fiberglass and are 100 percent explosion proof.

"...We also have safety feature, auto shut-off whether meron siyang madedetect na leakage or let's say magkaroon ng rapture yung hose nag-automatic shut off siya, there's no chance for the LPG to leak out," Labado said.

He also said that the EC gas cylinder, which was launched here in the Philippines last year, is translucent and is 70 percent lighter than the steel tank.

"Translucent siya, meaning makikita mo yung laman so ma-aavoid mo yung running out of LPG especially when you are in the middle of cooking, nakikita mo so matipid meaning hindi ka madadaya," Labado said.

Labado also added that the cylinder is corrosion free which means it would not rust and can stand under all weather conditions and temperatures as low as 45 degree Celsius and as high as positive 65 degree Celsius.

EC gas cylinder retails for 3,750 pesos which is inclusive of one filled cylinder tank, a regulator and a hose.

"For price medyo higher siya than the conventional LPG kasi nga you're buying mas innovative na LPG yung technology yung binibili mo dito, how safe yung LPG mo sa bahay at meron ka pang mga safety feature," he said.

Labado added that the cylinder tank can last up to 20 years.

For LPG refills, Labado said that they are 10-20 pesos cheaper than the regular sellers in the market.
