TRADE fairs have always been a treat for me. There are so many things that you can find that cannot be found from your regular department stores or the supermarket.

The Great Mindanao Food Fair opened last Monday at the Abreeza Mall Davao. It is one of the side events of the National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Summit, which was held from August 20 to 21.

The food fair showcased 16 exhibitors all over Davao region and Mindanao featuring a wide range of food and beverage products.

Most of the products, which are produced by the very active MSMEs of Mindanao, found in this trade fair would be commonly found in souvenir shops or where they are produced.

The week long trade fair promises to deliver the best of Mindanao and Davao Region like sweet pastries, cacao-based products, banana chips, vegetable chips, chili products, durian products, mangosteen products, fruit wines, sandwich spread, and coconut products among others.

Exhibitors of these prime products include: Produkto Davnor,
Maexel, Hot Pablo, Chilen Chicharon, Cacao Industry Council of Southern Mindanao, Davao del Sur Food Producers, Heavens Food, Coco Loko, Comval Hombased Workers Assoc, DTI 11 Carp, Food Processors Association of Davao, Kraze Bakeshop, Cacao de Davao, Kinilaw Mix, Green Agenda, Baked by Joyce, Sweet Dough, Dropbox General Merchandise, and Emerald Durian.

"The main goal here is to promote the food products of Davao region and Mindanao. Also the bottomline here is we want these products to reach the market and for people to be aware that we have a lot to offer in terms of food because after all we are developing Mindanao as the food basket of the country," said Ma. Belenda Q. Ambi, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 11 officer-in-charge.

The Great Mindanao Food Fair ends tomorrow, so grab your friends and family and get yourself some locally produced treats.

The event is jointly organized by DTI 11, Davao Ecocrafts, Abreeza Mall Davao, and MSME Development Council.
