DAVAO’S premier shopping and lifestyle destination SM Lanang Premier joined the city's celebration of Kadayawan Festival on August 8 with a Kadayawan Vibe that stretches till September 5, with an enjoyable feast of arts, eats, beats and shopping deals.

The enormous Durian has a knack for making its presence known, and makes heads turn attributing to its formidable look and overpowering odor, which surely will last till Sept 5 at The Durian Festival at the Fountain Court.

The event was organized by the Durian Industry Council of Davao City in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DTI)-Davao, Department of Agriculture (DA), the City Government and SM Lanang Premier.

SM Lanang also hosted the World Vibe Music Fest, where we got an easy access to meet and greet musical acts and local bands at The Fountain Court grounds.

Highlights were performances on August 15 by Solenn Heusaff at 5 p.m., which broke the crowd in boisterous cheers as she walked towards the stage.

I didn't understand it first, I thought the hysteria was quite over acting, but maybe, it's her whole persona that made people liked her so much. She was trendy in sleek leopard print skirt and black Tankini top as she hovers onstage singing, while making a selfie shot with fans in between instrumentals.

The Filipino rock, pop punk, alternative band, formed in 2010, Save Me Hollywood, also took the stage with the band consists of former MYX VJ Juliann "Julz" Savard on vocals, Aaron Isaac Corvera and Kenneth Wayne Aranza on guitars, Carlos "Calde" Calderon on bass and Melvin Macatiag on drums.

The band released its first full-length album Your Story to Tell in 2013 of June. I have to say not a lot of Dabawenyos were fans of the band but surely were given a different dose of music escapade that really was amazing.

Bossa Nova singer Sitti claimed the throne last August 16, 7 p.m., and as PR Manager Ms. Acey Puno-Reyes would put it, "Sitti is just so delightful and engaging. She sang really well live and liked dancing barefoot. And her bob haircut was just too cute for words. Sitti is definitely one of the Philippine's newest young singers whose uniquely soothing voice and strikingly beautiful persona radiates from the stage. Thumbs up if you're a Sittizen!"

The Kadayawan Sale was something to rave about where shoppers got up to 70 percent off on selected items at participating stores mall wide as well as the gastronomic display of incredible eats at the Davao Gourmet Collective participated by Hog's Breath Café, Cellar de Boca, Backyard Burgers, Bangkok Wok, Crocodile Ice Cream, La Bodeguita, JR Pastry, Kushiya Japanese Food, Cucina Ilocana, Latin Spoon and El Gato. While the Mindanao Crafts & Cultural Village was also staged.

Just before the "ber" months set in, SM Lanang Premier also marked the Chinese Mooncake Festival by bringing back another breakthrough exhibition of traditional Chinese arts to Davao City from August 30 to September 14.

"An Exhibit of Chinese and Western Paintings" by Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students showcases over 200 artworks done in paintings, oil, porcelain plates, scrolls and a teapot set by 36 artists at the Atrium.

This is the third year that Chan Lim staged an exhibit in partnership with SM Lanang Premier since 2012. What makes this upcoming exhibit unique is the display of Chinese paintings on porcelain plates, which measure 10 inches in diameter and are meticulously created for a year - from conceptualization, painting, and glazing to baking the artwork. Another visual attraction is the delicate set of teapot with six tea cups to be featured at the exhibit.

One of the few remaining notable Chinese brush painting artists in the country today, the Chan Lim family has conducted numerous painting exhibits and seminars, art workshops and on-the-spot painting demonstrations for more than four decades.

The public is invited to visit the 16-day art exhibit in celebration of the Mid-Autumn. The exhibit is co-presented by Dynamic Youth Inc., the Davao Filipino-Chinese Cultural Foundation, Park Inn by Radisson and Air 21.
