AS 2017 begins, we are yet to embark on another year of God knows what it will be and as a twenty-something, whose feet is still on life’s starting line and never really knowing which path to take, I figured it would be difficult.
This period of life can be exciting, confusing, and challenging. Although it seems hard, it is also the best part of life to learn. Here are some of the reasons why.
1.) Self discovery
Whether you’re a recent graduate or you’ve been working for quite some
time, your twenties are your years of discovery. Whether it be figuring out hobbies, interests, or friends, this is a time where you’re developing your identity. And the best part of this journey is that it’s a shared feeling amongst all 20-somethings.
2.) Allow yourself to fail
To the journey of reaching our goal, we are made to think that we should do it 'flawlessly', 'perfectly'- that having the trophy means we never failed and that's why we've been avoiding to do wrong. The reality is, we just have to go with the flow.
Don't dwell on you being wrong, instead, think upon how to be right the next time using all the learning from being wrong.
3.) It's fine to doubt yourself
It's in this stage that you most often doubt your life. You feel miserable some days.
This is good.
It means you’re still open to growth. That you can be objective and self-aware. The best people go home at the end of the day and think maybe there's another way.
4.) We are only this young once
So let's take all the risk we can afford! What makes life so exciting is the unpredictability of it all. 20-somethings are keen on taking risks and exploring the unknown. Who knows where our next chapter will take us?! 20-somethings seek adventure.
It's a wild ride. While it comes with difficulties, rewards also go with it. Twenties is the time for exploration, adventure, and discovery. Time is fleeting, make it count!
