MORE than 600 police applicants are set to take their neuro-psychiatric exams Tuesday at the University of Mindanao (UM) on Bolton Street, Davao City.

Superintendent Querubin Manalang, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in Davao Region, said this innovative recruitment process is an answer to the perennial problems of the Philippine National Police as far as recruiting physically and psychologically fit personnel is concerned.

Manalang, however, said that of the 600 applicants, only 433 will make it to the police organization, as per Department of Budget in Management (DBM) directive.

Manalang said of the 433, 10 percent are women and 90 percent are men since the police force is more in need of men, although women can also contribute to the police job.

After a neuro-psychiatric exam is a physical agility, medical and dental exam, an on-the-job-training that consists of a six-month regional training and six-month field training.
