Stakeholders briefed on Tourism Act

STAKEHOLDERS in the tourism industry joined the orientation and consultation forum about the implementation of the Republic Act 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009 last Friday and Saturday at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Fifty participants have attended from hotels, resorts, travel agencies and tour guides.

The Tourism Act, among others, stipulates a mandatory accreditation of tourism stakeholders by 2012. Business establishments that cater to tourists are also required to comply and to be accredited.
Tourism Regional Director Arturo Boncato Jr. said the Implementing Rules and Regulations have been set and the forum was a part of a Mindanao consultation.
The same agenda will be discussed in a forum that in Cebu this week.
