PANABO City’s Agriculture and Health offices are set to release the result of their findings on their inspection at the Prime Poultry and Breeder Farm Friday.
The inspection was conducted after City Hall received reports that a nearby poultry farm was blamed for the flies in Barangay Kiotoy, Panabo City.
Residents reportedly suffered for the inconvenience brought by the flies in their eating, sleeping and doing their daily routine.
Residents blame the poultry farm as the prime reason for the fly infestation.
"Perwisyo jud ning mga langaw ni, mao ng daghan na nagsakit sa amo diri (They bring harm to us here that's why we are getting sick)," said Vicente Alipio, a resident of the barangay during a television interview.
Kiotoy barangay chief Lucena Macasling said they have reprimanded the owners of the poultry farm and warned them that if the problem will not be solved, their operation will be a stopped.
Another resident claimed that her grandson died because of the flies, "Namatay ang akong apo tungod anang mga langaw na na, dili pud ko ganahan mokaon sa buntag kay makigsalo ang mga langaw sa imu, mao ng sa gabii na lang ko nagakaon (My grandson died because these flies, and I only eat in the evenings because the flies join me when I eat)," said Lola Josefina in the same interview.
Eliza Montilla, sanitary inspector of the City Health Office of Panabo, said they were not allowed to enter the farm premises hence, she strongly believes there is enough evidence that the poultry farm has indeed violated the Presidential Decree number 856 or the Sanitation Code.
It was learned the flies infest the barangay every after poultry harvest. Due to improper disposal of chicken dung, flies are seen everywhere and have even carpeted the streets of Barangay Kiotoy.
