Cops launch manhunt vs pawnshop robbers

ROBBERY charges have been filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against five members of the so-called Acetylene Gang who were tagged in the robbery of Euro Star Pawnshop on Ilustre Street, Davao City on July 13.

San Pedro police identified the suspects as Jason Jaime Pespes alias Alvin Rey; Arnil Samonte, alias Aldrick; Crispin Ngagan, alias Ramon Tinbao Tan; Zaldy Bilag Ligayo; and Erickson Daguigui Lambinco, all reportedly from Mountain Province in Cordillera Administrative Region.

Investigators of Davao City Police Office's Intelligence and Detection Management Branch (DCPO-IDMB) said the San Pedro police have launched a manhunt to arrest the five suspects.

The suspects broke into the pawnshop using a bamboo ladder and sawed off the iron grill of the window of the GAP Farm office on the second floor beside the pawnshop.

The suspects then opened the storage vault of the pawnshop with a crowbar and acetylene tank, and carted jewelry and valuables worth P5 million.

The suspects exited through the ground floor of GAP Farm office and also took the sales collection inside a drawer amounting to P30,000. The suspects also destroyed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera of the pawnshop.

Recovered inside the pawnshop were a set of Pryce gas acetylene tank, a set of acetylene cutter, hydraulic jack, steel cutter, cutter knife, two flat screwdrivers, steel saw, bull cutter, lighter, hand drill, two crowbars and rope.
