Sunday, August 21, 2011
THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) is set to undergo rehabilitation to further improve its service to commuters.
The rehabilitation will cost some P6 million, appropriated through Supplemental Budget No. 1 approved last month by the City Council.

Jose Elmario Guintadcan, assistant chief of the City Economic Enterprise, told Sun.Star Davao in an interview that the terminal rehabilitation is expected to be completed before the end of 2011 or early 2012.
Among those being done at the Dcott are the establishment of a passenger lounge with separate facilities for males and females, additional roofing of unroofed portions, and improvement of other terminal services.
"Siguro after ni siya mahuman, mas maayo pa ang serbisyo na mahatag sa terminal sa mga tao (Maybe after all those improvements are done, the terminal's services to its clients will also improve)," Guintadcan said.
According to the proposed plan, a separate passengers' lounge will be built for male and female passengers. With this, passengers who are waiting for their respective trips no longer need to avail of the folding beds that are available for rent at the terminal.
Guintadcan said the terminal will look different once the renovation is completed.
He added that they are just waiting for Certificate of Availability of Funds to start the project.
"Pag naa na pwede na makasugod ug bidding then masugdan na jud ang construction (Once we get the Certificate of Availability of Funds, then we will conduct the bidding after which we will start with the renovation)," he said.
