KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Militants in Davao del Sur province tagged the alleged "Digos Death Squad" as behind the killing of a professor in Digos City, Davao del Sur.
In a statement issued to media, the Citizens Alliance Unified for Sectoral Empowerment (Cause) in Davao del Sur said the killing of Glenor Jawati on December 15, was the handiwork of the DDS (Davao Death Squad), a group notorious for a series of summary executions.

Jawati was a professor of the University of Mindanao-Digos City branch.
Domingo Billones, spokesman for the group, said the killers wore bonnets and rode on a motorcycle, the usual “style” of the DDS.
He blamed the police for their failure to run after the professor's killers.
"Policemen were seen in many corners of the street. Yet, none of them chase the suspects," Billones said.
Police were quick in saying a love triangle caused the killing. The family, however, believed otherwise, according to Billones.
"The relatives want a deeper probe on the killing. Also, they want killers place behind bars. The killing is not as simple as love triangle," he said.
Billones considered Jawati's killing a case of a summary execution, the second since 2007.
In March 2, 2007, members of DDS killed a peasant leader identified as Renato Pacaide in Digos City.
"Four years after the killing, no justice has been served to the Pacaide family," he said in a statement.
