Pa kills son in Tacurong

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Police in Tacurong City are bent on filing charges against 85-year-old Isaac Acosta for killing his son after a heated argument inside the victim's residence around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Superintendent Gualberto Tuzon, Tacurong City police director, identified the victim as Cesar Acosta, 51, an agricultural engineer and the suspect's eldest son.

Tuzon said at the height of their heated argument, the suspect took his caliber 22 Remington rifle and shot his son in different parts of his body.
The younger Acosta was declared dead at the Sandig Clinic and Hospital in Tacurong City.
Tuzon said some of Acosta's relatives asked the police not to pursue the case as the killing was "just a family matter."
The city police director, however, was firm in filing the murder case.
"This is not just a family matter. This is a case of murder. We can't allow somebody to just take one's life, much more, his own son," he said.
Tuzon was told by some of Acosta's relatives that the suspect had also killed his own wife who was a school teacher in their barangay.
The suspect's wife was a victim of domestic violence, said Tuzon.
"The wife died after the suspect strangled her to death. Despite that, however, the suspect had remained free. No one from the family or his relatives had him jailed for killing his own wife," Tuzon said.
Based on Tuzon's assessment, the suspect is not "mentally deranged."
"In fact, I heard him say he would kill every member of his family once he’s freed from the detention cell," he said.
The police recovered from the crime scene 12 empty shells from the caliber 22 Remington rifle, which the suspect in killing his own son.
The suspect was placed under inquest proceedings after the police arrested him few hours after the killing.
