Mayor ‘indecisive’ on seeking another term

WITH less than 16 months before the next mayoralty elections in 2013, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she hasn't decided if she will run for another term.

"Most likely, sa pag-tuon-tuon lang namo sa among kalaban, magsugod na sila ug dakdak June pa siguro karong tuiga, June pa ta mag-huna-huna ana (Based on our observation of our opponents, they usually start with their attacks by June, so maybe by then, I will decide)," Duterte-Carpio said.

"Ang filing of candidacy siguro basta autamated murag November pa man na siya basta similar atong 2010 elections (The filing of certificate of candidacy would usually start in November just like in the past)," the mayor said.

Duterte-Carpio earlier said she'd prefer getting pregnant than running for mayor in the 2013 elections.

The mayor was quick to say that it would still depend on the Almighty if He will allow her to bear a child.

"Dili nako makaya na maghigda-higda lang for nine months nga mayor ko (I can't take it just lying around for nine months while I am the incumbent mayor)," she said in an earlier interview, when she said she’d opt to carry a baby given the chance instead of being a mayor.
