Making Davao safest important than awards
Saturday, February 4, 2012
THE new chief of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) prefers achieving a peaceful and safe Davao than garnering numerous awards and recognition.
Senior Superintendent Ronald M. dela Rosa, DCPO chief, told reporters in the Thursday's I-Speak forum held at the City Hall that keeping Davao City as the safest and the most peaceful city across the country is his top priority over prestigious awards and recognition.

This was Dela Rosa's response to a question from the media asking his comment if he would aspire to grab that recognition again citing DCPO as the most outstanding police station across the country in which the city managed to grab in the previous years.
"Mas gusto nako na safe ang Davao City na tanan tao dili mahadlok mag lakaw anytime of the day na walay kahadlok (I would prefer that Davao City will become the safest place to the extent that all can walk across the city anytime of the day without any fear)," Dela Rosa said.
Dela Rosa said keeping the citizens of Davao City safe in every corner of the city is the biggest challenge that all policemen should endure.
"I don't really aspire for any awards or recognition," Dela Rosa said.
But Dela Rosa was quick to add that this does not mean that he will not aim for excellence. He said any recognition or award is all but bonus to their work as the keepers of the city's peace and order.
