Councilors pay tribute to Duterte’s mom

DAVAO City councilors paid tribute to the late Soledad Roa-Duterte, mother of Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, presiding officer of the City Council, during a regular session on Tuesday.
Five councilors delivered their privilege speeches to honor and to remember Nanay Soling, who is known for her works to uphold and protect the rights of ordinary people.

Councilors Arnulfo Cabling, Pilar Braga, Melchor Quitain, Al Ryan Alejandre, and Conrado Baluran recognized and honored Nanay Soling's contribution to the growth and welfare of the city.
The council, an approved resolution, also honored the Duterte matriarch for her relentless efforts that led to the establishment of the Museo Dabawenyo, which showcases the city's rich cultural heritage.
In her privilege speech, Braga recalled all the precious moments she had with Nanay Soling.
Braga said Nanay Soling was one of the many selfless individuals who fought for the welfare and rights of many Dabawenyos during then President Ferdinand Marcos' declaration of Martial Law. (JOP)
