The dredging machine is used to scoop up mud, gravel and other obstructions from the bottom of rivers and waterways.

According to Andrew Lipardo of the City Engineer's Office (CEO), they have submitted a proposal for the dredging machine and are awaiting the results.
"From our end, nag-submit na mi og proposal, pero dili pa sab mi sure kon kana moagi pa ba sa council, siyempre ang tanan mag-depende pa gyud sa pundo," Lipardo said during the Kapehan sa SM City Monday.
A dredging machine costs approximately P48 million.
To date, the City Government is coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the use of its dredging machine.
"Unsa man ang project namo and the project sa DPWH we coordinate with one another," Lipardo said.
Lipardo is hopeful that they will be able to acquire the machine this year and start cleaning up waterways and rivers in the city to prevent flash floods in disaster-prone areas. (Rhona O. Goc-ong)
