DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio vowed to support the advocacy on legal adoption being spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Davao Region.
Duterte-Carpio declared her intention to become a supporter of DSWD's campaign in providing good life to abandoned children through legal adoption.

The mayor said in her message during an adoption forum on Friday that she is an adoptive mother herself.
She called on the public to understand and be open-minded to legal adoption, urging people to grab any opportunity of adopting a child.
"The life of a child would greatly improve because you are there. Your life would also be improved for taking care of the child," she said referring to those who intend to adopt.
She said that adoption is the same concept as to bearing one's own child.
"Because one can't choose a child," she said during a forum conducted by the DSWD.
The adoption forum was part of the yearly observance of the Adoption Consciousness Week held every February 4-10.
Duterte-Carpio disclosed her plan to adopt again but said time constraint is holding her back to pursue this, including a plan of applying to become a foster parent.
"I want to have more children, kasi malungkot ang bahay pag walang bata," said the 33-year-old mayor.
The DSWD, meanwhile, urged the public to follow the process of adoption and to report any case or knowledge of illegal adoption.
