THE private partner of the Davao City Government in organizing this year's Araw ng Dabaw admitted to have encountered difficulties in finding pledges and sponsorship across the country.
Lizette Marquez, festival director of Duaw Davao Festival Foundation Inc., recently told reporters that as of last week, they are still seeking pledges from companies across the country to finance various activities they will organize in time for the city's 75th Founding Anniversary.

Sponsorships are vital in financing the activities they are set to handle.
Aside from Duaw, there are other private partners that are set to handle some of the events for this year's Araw ng Dabaw, including GMA Network-Davao, Davao Chinatown Development Council (DCDC), and Davao Association of Travel and Tours Operators (Datto), among others.
"Some of the advertisers are anticipating that Araw ng Dabaw will be shorter," Marquez said when asked of the reasons in their difficulty in finding some pledges from their target sponsors.
Duaw has set aside P4 million for the activities that they are set to handle.
Meanwhile, Davao City Government will shoulder cash prizes for competitions amounting to P963,000.
The city will also handle the logistical support in carrying out all activities including manpower.
Last year, the city allocated a total of P3.9 million for the same festival, which lasted for a more than a week.
But this year, since it is the city's Diamond Anniversary, the festivities are expected to last for more than a month.
