Foreigner sued for forcing live-in partner to have sex

A 47-YEAR-old British national was sued after he allegedly choked and slapped his 18-year-old Filipina live-in partner for refusing to have sex with him in March 2011.

The respondent was charged with violation of Section 5 (g) of Republic Act 9262, otherwise known as Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act of 2004.

In her affidavit, the victim said they met through the Internet sometime in November 2010.

The respondent allegedly came to visit her in their residence in Matina Pangi in December 2010 and personally proposed that he was going to marry her.

She said they lived together from January 10 to March 25.

However, the complainant said the British national would sometimes force her to have sex with him.

The respondent would threaten her that he would kill her and her family.

On March 23, the couple had a heated argument after she refused to have sex with him because her stomach hurts.

The respondent allegedly choked and slapped her, causing her to fall on the floor and felt dizzy thus, the filing of the case.

Consultation and Referral Sheet from the Southern Philippines Medical Center showed that the victim suffered "post-traumatic stress disorder."

Prosecutor Mariam Linsangan found probable cause to charge the respondent based on the affidavit of the victim, the record of the events and the doctor's findings.

Linsangan recommended a P24,000 bail for the respondent. (Arianne Caryl N. Casas)
