DESPITE a huge crowd during Friday's Araw ng Dabaw activities, authorities said the celebration was generally peaceful.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief Ronald M. dela Rosa said the well-planned and organized events by the City Government in partnership with the authorities made the festivity peaceful and orderly.
More than 2,000 policemen and Task Force Davao (TFD) troops were deployed in different parts of the city to ensure the security of the public.
Records at DCPO's Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) showed no major untoward incidents.
Colonel Marcos Norman S. Flores, TFD chief, said their team has been conducting checkpoints and patrols, and so far everything was peaceful.
"Our troops were deployed in different areas, some of us were here (along San Pedro and Magallanes Street) since this morning... ok naman, despite the huge crowd wala namang major incidents or threats na napapabalita," Flores said.
Flores added that around 60 personnel from Public Safety Battalion were augmented to control the crowd.
Flores said the people have nothing to worry as security measures will be sustained. (ICT)
