NINE policemen face different administrative complaints before the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of Davao City Police Office.
The administrative complaints were filed from January up to this month.
Senior Police Officer 1 Rommel M. Arcef, IAS chief investigator, refused to name the policemen, but he said that based on the records, the ranks of the policemen ranged from Police Officer 3 to Senior Police Officer 1.
Arcef said most of the complaints filed before their office are for grave misconduct, which includes negligence of duty, physical injury, indiscriminate firing, threat, and adultery or concubinage, among others.
"As long as meron nag-file ng complaint sa amin, that's the only time we can investigate the involvement of the police personnel on a particular violation. After investigation saka namin ipapasa yung document to Police Regional Office (PRO) Davao region," Arcef said.
Arcef added that filing of administrative charges against police officers who violate the law is up to the higher headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City, while non-officers can be acted upon at the regional level.
Arcef said that last year, there were 15 policemen from Police Officer 2 to Police Officer 3 who faced similar complaints before their office within the same period. He added that some of their personnel are still under investigation, while others are now subject to summary proceedings. (ICT)
