THE City Government of Davao is still working on the details of the highlight events in this year's Kadyawan sa Dabaw celebration.
Orly Escarillas of Museo Dabawenyo and official spokesperson of Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2012 told Sun.Star Davao that some of the minor preparations for the city's major festival are already done.
"Hopefully, soon ma tagaan taka ug (I will give you the) officially list of activities pag okay na (once it's completed)," Escarilla said.
Last week, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio issued Executive Order (EO) No. 22 creating the steering committee that will oversee the management of the festival.
This year's Kadayawan celebration has no working theme, he said, adding that he isn't aware of the reason Duterte-Carpio chose not to have a theme for Kadayawan.
The highlight events of Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2012 are slated on August 17-19.
Meanwhile, Lisette Marques, festival director of Duaw Davao Festival Foundation Inc., said this year's Kadayawan will feature new events that will highlight the true sense of being a Dabawenyo.
Duaw is one of the private sector which will partner with the city in organizing the festival.
Marques said, however, that all the major and traditional activities and events during Kadayawan will be retained as the highlights of this year's Kadayawan sa Dabaw.
The core activities of Kadayawan -- Indak indak sa Kadalanan and the Floral Float Parade -- will be held on August 18 and 19, while the finals of Hiyas sa Kadayawan will be on the 15th. (JOP)
