3 employers sued for non-remittance of SSS contributions

CHARGES have been filed against three employers for failing to remit employees' contributions to the Social Security System (SSS).
Records from the Regional Trial Court-Office of the Clerk of Court (RTC-OCC) showed that the SSS filed a case against Kiara Kristine Cubillo of Semprela Technology Solutions, Patria Cris Trinon of Nissi Industrial Products and Pest Control Services, and trader Cherry Anne Tecala.
In an affidavit, an SSS representative said Cubillo failed to remit to SSS the contributions worth P14,901.78, including the penalty of three percent per month computed as of May 30, 2011. A copy of the affidavit showed that Cubillo did not pay from March 2011 to June 2011.
On the other hand, Trinon allegedly failed to remit to SSS the P2,854.53 contributions computed as of August 15, 2011. She did not pay from January 2011 to August 2011.
Meanwhile, Tecala also failed to remit to SSS the contributions worth P9,526.96, including the penalty of three percent per month.
The City Prosecution Office recommended P24,000 bail for each of the respondents.
