A SALES lady at a shopping center along Uyanguren Street is facing charges before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) for stealing P172,000 cash from her employer.
Charged with qualified theft was Judith Bantac, 21, after a certain Alvin So, owner of Star Fit Footwear Marketing, filed complaints against her.
Court records showed that the respondent is a former entrusted employee who worked with So for six years.
In his affidavit, So said she trusted Bantac to make daily deposits and withdrawal from his bank account.
So said he gave the accused P172,000 to be deposited at PS Bank Monteverde branch at around 9 a.m. on June 25. Hours have passed but the respondent failed to return to their store.
After So inquired about the whereabouts of his employee, he learned that Bantac did not go to the bank and never made any deposit prompting him to seek police assistance.
Around 3 p.m. on the same day, So, along with the police, went to the respondent's boarding house.
So said the accused was crying and begging him to forgive her as she was "tempted to abscond the money."
Bantac told him that she handed the money to her friends -- Maricel, Jing and an unnamed person.
Prosecutor Lady Zozobrado recommended a P70,000 bail for the respondent's temporary liberty. ANC
