Duterte grateful for school chairs donation from Tagum

DAVAO City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte expressed his gratitude to Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy for the school chairs and tables he donated to Alejandra Navarro Elementary School in Lasang, Davao City.
"I would like to thank Mayor Uy for his generosity because after he learned that there were around four classrooms gutted down by fire in Lasang he immediately pledged to donate desks and chairs to the school," Duterte said during the turnover on July 25.
At least 280 school furniture composed of 170 desks and 110 chairs were turned over Mayor Uy the school as part of Tagum City's "Care for School Chairs" program.
Duterte also handed P75,000 cash assistance to the nine families affected by the fire incident on July 13.
Duterte also sought the assistance of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the form of confiscated illegal lumber, which will be turned over to the Tagum City Government for the manufacture of school desks and chairs.
"Ako tong ipagabas para himuon ug lingkuranan unya ipadala nako kang Mayor Uy para siya na mag-control, ako na mugasto sa transportation," Duterte said.
He said though the fire-hit school still lacks classrooms, he knows the Department of Education will address the problem, with the help of public and private sectors that are willing to extend their assistance.
To recall, around four classrooms and nine houses were gutted down by the fire incident.
