No council line-up yet for Hugpong

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Thursday she is yet to come up with the line-up of councilors for each district in the city whom she will endorse in the upcoming 2013 midterm elections.

In a press conference at her office, the city mayor said she cannot just simply enumerate names of those who are possibly in or out on her list publicly. She said this might hurt people's feelings.

"If I say publicly things that I should keep within myself, daghan ang ma offend na tao (many people might be offended)," Duterte-Carpio said.

At present, she said there has been still no name she is eying to include in the line-up of candidates.

To recall, Duterte-Carpio said her problems is not whether to run or not, but on what position.

She said since they are in politics, possible candidates are usually determined mainly by their track record and “winnability."

She also said she may consider new names in her line-up for the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod.

Hugpong is a quasi-political party in Davao City founded by her father, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. As the highly elected official in the city, the mayor acts as its leader, along with her father. (JOP)
