AT LEAST 200 traffic personnel will be deployed to ease the heavy traffic during the highlights of the 2012 Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival that are expected to draw thousands of visitors.
Retired Colonel Desiderio Cloribel, chief of the Traffic Management Center (TMC), said they have mapped out measures to ensure smoother traffic during the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and the Floral Float Parade on July 18 and 19, respectively.
He said they are also ready to give assistance to other major events, such as Hudyakaan and KadayawJUAN Road Bike Challenge.
Cloribel said the 200 traffic personnel will come from the center and the Davao City Police Office's Traffic Management Group (DCPO-TMG).
He said most of these traffic enforcers will be deployed in areas where traffic is expected to be heavy.
"We will deploy traffic personnel in areas where roads are closed and meron din, especially sa streets to control the traffic especially on Quezon Blvd. kasi hanggang ngayon nasa under road construction pa yung daan diyan. Meron din tayong mobile na mag-iikot to monitor traffic situation in city," Cloribel said.
Cloribel said re-routing and road closures will also be implemented the same as last year.
He urged the public to follow them on Twitter @trafficdavao for latest traffic advisories.
He said they will also set up traffic advisories on the streets.
Cloribel also bared the routes for Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and the Floral Float Parade or the Pamulak Kadayawan.
For Indak-Indak, the parade will start from Roxas Avenue, then turn left on C.M. Recto Ave., right to Bonifacio St., left to Pelayo St., (formerly Legazpi St.), then left to Rizal St., right to Ponciano Reyes St. (Crooked Road), the left to San Pedro St.
Participants will then converge at Rizal Park, in front of City Hall, for the final showdown.
The floral float parade follows the same route.
