DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio assured on Monday the Dabawenyos and visitors, who are expected to flock in the city for the 27th Kadayawan sa Dabaw, that this year's celebration will be more colorful as compared to last year's.
Duterte-Carpio issued the statement days before the highlights of the festival to be staged this weekend.
The much-awaited Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and the Pamulak or the Floral Float Parade are slated on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
In her weekly press briefing, Duterte-Carpio said that despite all the controversies that arose, especially those who questioned the staging of the first Ms. Gay Universe in Davao City in time with the city’s Kadayawan celebration, this year's festival is so far one of the best in the city's history.
"Sa mga nahitabo sa mga niaging adlaw, murag mas colorful karon (With all that had happened in the past few days, I think this year's festival is better than last year)," the mayor said.
Duterte-Carpio said based on the feedback from organizers of the festival, there has been no major problem encountered so far.
The mayor said the staging of the Ms. Gay Universe along with other events that aimed to enliven the festival make this year's Kadayawan a more colorful one.
Earlier, Duterte-Carpio ordered to increase the prizes for some events and increase the city's budget for this year's Kadayawan.
