Army overruns Moro rebel camp

COTABATO CITY -- The military overran another camp of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM) in Maguindanao province on Thursday afternoon.
According to Army's 6th Infantry Division public affairs chief, Colonel Prudencio, combined forces of the Army's 33rd, 45th and 68th Infantry Battalions raided the Camp Omar complex in the boundaries of Datu Unsay, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Shariff Aguak and Talayan around 2 p.m. Thursday.
The military overran Hill 546, which is the third stronghold of the BIFM. Authorities found seven cottages inside the complex, running trenches and underground holes used by the rebels as hideouts.
The military also recovered two .50 caliber Barret sniper rifles, several ammunition and assorted fatigue uniforms.
The military also overran two BIFM camps several days ago, Hill 166 and Hill 714.
As of this writing Friday, the military is still conducting combat operations against the BIFM inside Camp Omar Complex. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
