LAWYERS and other Dabawenyos paid tribute to Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo, remembering him as one of the few trusted and respected official.

"We have lost a good man and a model public official. My deepest sympathies to his bereaved family," said Public Attorney's Office-Davao chief Francis Calatrava.

Regional prosecutor Antonio Arellano said, "Jesse Robredo: Truly a man for others. He is no longer with us but he is always with us."

"The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) is saddened by the tragedy. The nation has just lost an outstanding public servant. Sec. Robredo represented the good side of politics. He was part of the system yet he was also its counterfoil. He brought hope that progressive politicians can rise and make a difference in our national life. His death is a big loss to the brand of politics and professionalism he exemplified. May he rest in peace." -- IBP president lawyer Roan Libarios

"So sad to hear such news he was a good and hardworking public servant, a rare trait nowadays." -- IBP-Davao chapter president Jonathan Jocom.

"Even if I am stranger to the Robredos I have been praying for him and thanks to the Lord that his body and the two pilots were found." –- Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 judge George Omelio

"He is an asset to PNoy's government. He is one of those we call 'a few good men'." -- RTC Branch 9 acting presiding judge Rowena Apao-Adlawan

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sec. Robredo and the two pilots. The secretary will be remembered for his contributions on good governance and showcasing Naga as a model of that kind of governance. We also pray for strength and grace for the families of the departed, especially Leni Robredo, who was a colleague in Saligan." -- Lawyer Raissa Jajurie

"Difficult to believe that the energetic man who issued decisive orders regarding the security of private complainants and witnesses (in the Ampatuan Massacre case) no longer walks this earth. May he rest in peace and deepest condolence to his family and loved ones." -- Lawyer Prima Quinsayas

"I join the mourning of the family of our departed boss in the DILG honorable Jesse Robredo which he wholeheartedly devoted his work until the end." -- Superintendent Isabelo V. Cartin Jr. of Davao City Jail

"We lost a good, efficient, humble and honest public servant. It’s difficult to look for someone like him." -- Lawyer Leo Caubang

"He was a great loss to the public service, great job to the search team in finding the body and giving the family a chance to mourn and give the secretary a decent burial." -- Lawyer Lyndon Yap

"I sympathize with the family of the late secretary Robredo. He is one of the best examples and proof na ang 'tuwid na landas' is possible. I just hope that what he has started as mayor of Naga City then the secretary of the DILG would continue. My family and I have been praying that the search and rescue would turn out positive. But God has his reason. Hopefully we all follow his example." -- Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) Davao chief lawyer Miguel Palma Gil

"We are deeply saddened by the loss not only of a good friend but also a colleague in Cabinet who devoted a great deal of effort in helping the National Government pursue Mindanao’s progress and transformation. Rest in Peace at Salamat Jesse." -- Secretary Luwalhati Antonino of the Mindanao Development Authority
