THE Davao City had no shortcoming that led to the grenade explosion in Barangay Fatima, Paquibato District in this city that injured 47 residents.
Speaking in her weekly press briefing at her office Monday, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the City Government of Davao has exerted its effort in ensuring the safety of the residents celebrating their fiesta.
"Sa pagka karon, wala ta’y nakita na kakulangan ‘no, kay naa didto ang army, actually nitabang sila. Dili na gani na nila trabaho pero nitabang sila ug bantay sa mga activity naa pud didto ang pulis (We cannot think of any shortcoming on our part because the army was there even though it was no longer their job, and they helped, along with the police)," the mayor said.
At present, the perpetrators of the explosion remain unidentified.
"What we should focus on right now is catching the perpetrators," Duterte-Carpio said.
The other day, the mayor’s father, Vice Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte, said he’s waiting for the official statement of the New People’s Army (NPA) regarding the incident.
As of this writing, there has been no official statement from the NPA regarding the incident.
Davao City Government has already issued an official statement published on major local publications condemning the act.
