POLICE filed charges on Friday before the City Prosecution Office against two men arrested for illegal drug possession.
Chief Inspector Angel Sumagaysay, chief of the Toril police station, identified the suspects as Koniel Kawilan Talib of Datu Piang in Maguindanao and a transient resident in Bo. Obrero in Davao City, and Ulysses Quadra Ampong, 37, taxi driver and a native of Panabo City.
Sumagaysay said the suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Recovered from the possession of the suspects were sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” with a street value of P20,000, two Nokia cellular phones, a Naz Neong taxi with plate number LXB 212 and P500 marked money.
Sumagaysay said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Mac Arthur Highway in Crossing Bayabas, Toril around 6 p.m.
He said Taib was a notorious drug pusher in the area, adding that the suspect was once arrested but was able to post bail for his release.
Sumagaysay said they will also conduct follow up investigation after they received reports that Talib was a former private army of the Ampatuan clan.
The suspects are now detained at Toril police station for proper disposition.
