Armed cattle rustlers attack Upi village

COTABATO CITY -- Armed cattle rustlers struck anew in Maguindanao around 4 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Army's 6th Infantry Division Public Affairs chief, Colonel Prudencio Asto, the armed group harassed residents of purok 4, Barangay Kigan, South Upi and fled with a horse and two carabaos.
Residents were helpless as the men were armed with high caliber of weapons.
A group tried to run after the armed men who fled toward the sitio Brigeron, Barangay Pandan, South Upi but they were fired at and forced to retreat.
Members of the Army soldiers, police and Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit under the Army's 38th Infantry Battalion tried to run after the suspect but lost them.
According to police investigation, the carabaos were owned by Poh Masangil and Tokie Lakay while the horse was owned by Antoy Angkan.
Authorities have launched manhunt operation. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
