Rodrigo Duterte: I'll decide for Sara, Paolo

DAVAO City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said Thursday that he will be the one to decide whether his daughter will seek for an elective post in the 2013 elections even as Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has indicated she is still undecided.
In an interview after the live television program "Give Us This Day" of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, Duterte said although he has yet to talk to his two children -- Sara and Councilor Paolo Duterte -- regarding the 2013 polls, he already has plans for them.
"I will decide for them, and she (Sara) will run in the upcoming elections. What position? That we are yet to discuss," Duterte said, adding the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod has an initial line-up already for the 2013 elections.
According to the older Duterte, though her daughter is on the family way, he believes she can make it during the election campaign considering the new technologies in this generation.
"Inday is a bright girl. She is a lawyer. I know she will find a thousand ways to reach out to the public. Of course, with the state-of-the-art (technology now available), she can use cellular phone, fax machine, computer or any other technology," Duterte said.
"Well, as her father, if she needs to rest, then she has to let go and take some rest to protect her baby who happens to be my grandchild," he added.
But he was quick to add that he will let his children decide on what political position they want.
He said if Sara still wants to be a mayor, it would be fine with him because, after all, he was the one who brought her daughter to politics.
"I will drag her to politics because of the dynamics here. I will give her the options. I will always be behind her as long as the people still want me there," Duterte added.
He said he would be glad to be a vice mayor again or be in any available position here, if God allows him to run in the 2013 elections.
