Man attacks doc with steel pipe-A A +A

A DOCTOR landed in the same hospital he is working at after an unidentified man hit him with a steel pipe near his house in GMA Compound along J.P. Laurel avenue, Davao City around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Based on a blotter at the Sta. Ana Police Station, the victim was identified as Francis Ryan Gonzales Laganson, 26, resident doctor of the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
The victim is a native of Tagum City and temporarily staying at GMA Compound.
It was learned that the victim was walking home when two men hit him with a steel pipe several times in different parts of his body. The men immediately fled after the incident.
The victim was brought to the SPMC where he is being treated by Dr. Abundo.
Sun.Star SuperBalita tried to get the side of Dr. Leopoldo Vega, chief of the SPMC, but he is reportedly in Metro Manila. SPMC administrative officer Ricardo Jostol is also in a meeting.
There are unconfirmed reports that relatives of the patient could be behind the crime.
Police are still conducting further investigation of the incident. (Alger P. Dura)
