POLICE on Monday filed complaints against a former barangay tanod arrested for shooting to death another tanod on Saturday.
Sta. Ana police filed murder charges against Rolly Juntilla Timcang, 30, of Barangay 76-A Bucana, for killing Roseller Gambong, 40, resident of SIR, New Matina, Barangay 76-A Bucana, and attempting to kill Allyson Lean Castro, of barangay Matina Pangi, at Coreas Village in Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao, Davao City around 4:30 p.m.
The two victims were in the area for a cockfight.
In his affidavit, a witness said the accused shot Gambong, who was onboard a motorcycle with Castro.
Gambong was hit in his right jaw and fell to the ground. Ticmang allegedly fired his firearm again hitting the victim in his chest.
Castro attempted to run but was shot by the respondent hitting him at the back.
The witness said he immediately left the area fearing that the accused might also kill them.
Gambong succumbed to gunshot wounds in the neck, back, and other parts of the body. Castro sustained several gunshot wounds and is undergoing treatment at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
Ticmang was arrested 6:30 a.m. Monday after witnesses identified him as the gunman.
The suspect took Gambong's .45 caliber pistol and fled onboard a motorcycle driven by another man.
Police recovered eight empty shells and a slug of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
In an earlier interview, Chief Inspector Ceazar Cabuhat, chief of the Sta. Ana police station, said the motive for the shooting might be personal grudge.
It was learned that Gambong testified against the suspect in a robbery case.
The accused, who was with his relatives, refused to be interviewed when he was brought for an inquest proceeding on Monday morning.
A City Prosecution Office staff said the accused is presently under parole for his robbery charges filed by the Talomo police station. (ANC)
