DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (Dole) regional director Henry John Jalbuena recently announced Baguio City will host the National Public Employment Service Officer’s (PESO) Congress.

The 12th Peso Congress is slated on October 10 to 13 at the Baguio Country Club with Dole-Cordillera laying the groundwork for the activity.

Dole Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis–Baldoz will grace the event which will be participated by more than a thousand PESOs nationwide including Bureau of Local Employment Director Maria Criselda Sy and Dole regional directors.

Jalbuena said the annual National PESO Congress is being facilitated by DOLE through the Bureau of Local Employment and the Public Employment Service Office Philippines Inc. to recognize the profound performance and contribution of the PESOs in the facilitation of employment services at the community level throughout the country.

Jalbuena added the gathering is an opportunity for the PESOs to exchange ideas, experiences, concerns, and best practices which will provide valuable inputs and inspiration for the PESOs in addressing employment service issues.

Director Jalbuena directed the different field offices to encourage the participation of the 77 PESOs in Cordillera during the forthcoming National PESO Congress.

Republic Act No. 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999 mandates every province, city, municipality, state and private colleges and universities, non-government organizations, and community-based organizations for the establishment of the PESO.

The PESO law also aims to carry out the State policy to provide full employments and equality of employment opportunities for all and, for this purpose, to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government at the local levels.
