Ombud hit for delay of resolution of complaint vs LTFRB

A COMPLAINANT of an administrative case filed against officials of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Davao Region accused the Office of the Ombudsman for Mindanao of delaying the resolution of the complaint.
Jaspe S. Salvani, in a letter dated August 22, 2012 and addressed to Ombudsman for Mindanao Maria Corazon A. Arancon, requested that his complaint be resolved immediately.
Salvani said he filed misconduct and neglect of duty complaint against Benjamin A. Go, LTFRB chief, and Edgar Violan, LTFRB administrative officer, on January 16 this year.
He said eight months have passed since he filed the complaint, but "no resolution was made by the Ombudsman."
"Delaying the resolution of the complaint can create an assumption that there is favoritism in your office since it is a public knowledge that one of your personnel is the wife of Edgar Crisanto Violan," Salvani wrote in the same letter, a copy of which was obtained by Sun.Star Davao.
In a phone interview Sunday, Salvani said he can no longer recall the times he checked on the status of his complaint.
Instead, he claimed he was accused of being a "fixer". The Office of the Ombudsman for Mindanao, on the other hand, denied "favoritism" as pointed out by Salvani in his letter.
An employee at the public assistance desk, who refused to be named as she is not authorized to speak, said the investigation of the complaint is still pending, considering that there are still many cases that are to be resolved and have been filed ahead of Salvani's complaint.
The source said Salvani is advised to "follow-up in writing" to formally inform their office of his concern.
The office assured that the latter's complaint will be resolved. As of this posting, efforts to reach Violan and Go proved futile.
