THE Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) is all set to launch the housing industry roadmap that will direct the industry's vision from 2012 to 2030, an association officer said on Wednesday.

Christopher Narciso, first vice president of the SHDA, said in Wednesday’s Club 888 Forum at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao that the housing industry roadmap will be presented during the two-day 2012 National Convention of SHDA and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao from Thursday until Friday.

He said the roadmap will highlight the four key elements that will focus on production capacity, affordability of housing projects, financing needs, and regulatory framework.

"We are still going through a series of consultation. This is just a start," he said.

As for the regulatory framework, Narciso said the roadmap will seek to resolve conflicts and harmonize policies and regulations to fast-track the approval of housing permits and licenses of the developers.

He said they intend to come up with solutions and strategies in resolving this issue to allow faster development results in the housing industry during the convention.

The housing industry roadmap, he said, will be presented to Vice President Jejomar Binay on Friday.

He added that SHDA is hoping to resolve the housing backlogs of three million houses in the country, which can be addressed with strong coordination of private developers and the government as well.

"Both national and local government, including the all the stakeholders must go together to address the housing backlogs," he said.

SHDA is comprised mostly of housing developers in the country. Most of the local mid-sized local developers are members of the association.
