THE Davao City Hall Employees Association (Dachea) has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new loan applications as they got flooded with 778 loan applications among its members.
James Zimmerman, chief of Dachea told Sun.Star Davao on Friday that Dachea will process these 778 loan applications, especially for the emergency loan assistance program (Elap) that grants a maximum of P5,000.
Zimmerman, however, said as much as the city wanted to accommodate all of these employees, Dachea can only cater to 10-12 Elap applications per month.
As of Friday, Dachea has a total of 2,553 members among the plantilla workers of the City Hall with a salary grade of below 24.
Zimmerman said most of these members are also borrowers.
Aside from the P5,000 Elap, the Dachea also offers to its member what they called employees welfare assistance that would reach as much as P50,000 for each member.
"We are trying to help our members/borrowers with these programs," Zimmerman said.
For those Dachea members who have not yet availed any of the loan programs that the cooperative has been offering to its members, Zimmerman said they can go to Dachea office and to inquire of the steps.
Zimmerman said for a member to qualify for any of the loan program, the member must not have an outstanding loan from Dachea.
