KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Two murder suspects voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Kabacan town in North Cotabato on Wednesday, a police officer said.
Senior Inspector Tirso Pascual, of the investigation division of the Kabacan Municipal Police Office, identified the suspects who arrived at their station around 10 a.m. Wednesday as Rodel Tagura, 27, and his cousin, Rickson Agura, 34, both residents of Sinamar-1 Subdivision.
Reports said the suspects, after they killed their cousin Lorna Tagura, 17, sought refuge in their uncle's house in nearby Barangay New Abra in Matalam town, North Cotabato.
Their uncle, however, persuaded them to surrender to authorities.
A negotiation led by the Kabacan police, through help from the Kabacan Business Club president Jabib Guiabar and the suspects' employer Michael Piang, led the suspects to yield to the police on Wednesday.
The suspects admitted in an investigation that they killed Lorna.
They argued over money matters, the suspects told the police.
Lorna's family, according to Pascual, is bent on filing murder charges against Rodel and Rickson so that justice would be served for the victim. (MCM)
