THE first man arrested for allegedly violating Davao City's month-long localized gun ban is set to be arraigned today, Friday.
Gerry Amadore E. Paller, charged with illegal possession of firearms, will be arraigned before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14.
Prosecutor Oliver Saniel found probable cause to charge Paller.
Court records showed that the suspect was arrested at the checkpoint manned by Task Force Davao in Barangay Sirawan, Toril in the afternoon of August 1 -- the first day of the ban.
He was only able to present a firearm license and the letter order with identification card issued by Regional Intelligence Unit of the Police Regional Office, but no ban exemption.
Judge Evalyn Morales granted the petition of the respondent to post bail.
The city's localized gun ban was implemented upon the approval of Philippine National Police Director General Nicanor Bartlolome of a memorandum dated July 16 for the suspension of permit to carry firearms from August 1-31, in line with the celebration of 27th Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival. (ANC)
