POLICE launched on Saturday a manhunt operation against a suspect who killed a mechanic at Kilometer 11 in Sasa in Davao City.
Superintendent Royina Garma, chief of the Sasa police station, identified the suspect as James Beldad, businessman, resident of Bayview of Kilometer 11 in Sasa, while the victim is Ervin Tañan dela Cruz, 22, resident of Barangay Pangubatan, Kaputian, Samal.
Garma said the incident happened around 6:10 p.m. inside the RAF and SYL Motor Shop in Kilometer 11. She added that the suspect was nowhere to be found after the incident.
Initial investigation showed the victim was with his co-workers arranging the tools inside the shop, when the suspect armed with undetermined caliber appeared and shot the victim twice.
Garma said the victim succumbed to two gunshot wounds in his head after he was shot in a close ranged by the suspect.
"According to some witnesses there, the suspect immediately boarded a public utility jeep after the incident, while they also brought Beldad to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) hoping he will be medically treated," Garma said.
Garma added that the victim was already dead before he was rushed to SPMC around 8 p.m.
Garma said they are now conducting investigation to locate the whereabouts of the suspect. She added that personal grudge is the possible motive of the suspect.
