CHARGES were filed before the Regional Trial Court against two people who allegedly hired a person to kill another man.
Charged with attempted murder and grave coercion are Junel Cabargada Porones, 33, of Barangay 36-D, and Nurmina Attih Mahadali of Barangay 22-C, Davao City.
In a resolution, Prosecutor Mariam Mastura-Linsangan found probable cause to charge the two based on the complaints of Bahjin Marcos Mahadali, the brother-in-law of Nurmina.
The resolution reads that Senior Police Officer 1 Francis Nonesa arrested Porones after he handed an envelope containing P30,000 cash and a photograph of Bahjin to Zaldy Lee, the man who was allegedly hired to kill the complainant.
A piece of paper was also placed inside the envelope with the name and address of Bahjin written on it.
Lee said Porones threatened him if he would not kill Bahjin within three days from receipt of the “initial payment”.
In his affidavit-witness, Lee said he confessed to Bahjin about the intent of the respondents to have him killed.
He reported the incident to the Sta. Ana police and an entrapment operation was staged leading to Porones’ arrest.
Nurmina, on the other hand, remains at large.
In his resolution, Linsangan said Bahjin, during the inquest, testified that he recognized the penmanship of Nurmina who allegedly wrote his name and address in a piece of paper that was placed inside the envelope.
“Curiously, the P30,000 disappeared before the inquest although the photograph and handwritten piece of paper were submitted,” Linsangan said.
Linsangan dropped the grave threats complaint “since the threats are absorbed in grave coercion.”
A total of P132,000 bail was recommended for Porones. (Arianne Caryl N. Casas)
