THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Davao Region arrested on Tuesday a woman and seized around P25,000 worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 76-A of Mabini, Boulevard, Davao City.
Emerson R. Rosales, PDEA regional director, identified the suspect as Aleli Clenista Verano, 34, resident of Purok 2 in Barangay 76-A of Mabini in Boulevard.
Rosales said the suspect was arrested around 10 a.m. after she handed a small sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine) to an agent who acted as poseur buyer.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were 28 small elongated heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu, a bigger one still containing more crystals, and a rectangular sachet containing dried marijuana tops, one gray pouch, P400 cash, and two P500 marked money.
Rosales said they have conducted their surveillance three weeks ago though the suspect has been selling illegal drugs for quiet sometime.
Verano admitted that she is selling illegal drugs to earn, but she denied she bought the items on her own. She claimed friends asked her to sell the drugs.
"Dili man ko nagapamaligya sa bisan kinsa lang. Kana ra jud kaila namo unya dili pud kanunay (I don’t sell at random. I only sell to those I know and who are regular buyers)," Verano said, adding that she does not regret being captured by the PDEA agents because then she will be given a chance to reform.
The suspect is now detained at the Davao City Police Office jail facility and is facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Ivy C. Tejano)
