A FEW weeks before the observance of All Souls and All Saints Days (Undas) across the country, the Traffic Management Center warned motorists of a heavy traffic especially in four major areas that will be subject to rerouting schemes on November 1 and 2.
Senior Inspector Manuel C. Española of the TMC, in Thursday's I-Speak media forum at the City Hall, advised people, who will be visiting their departed loved ones in the cemeteries, to avoid bringing their vehicles on those days to decongest the number of vehicles.
On Thursday, TMC released the re-routeing scheme on all major cemeteries in Davao City including Davao Memorial Park along McArthur Highway in Matina, Chinese Cemetery on Sarenas Road, Buhangin Memorial Park along Buhangin-Cabantian Road, and in five neighboring cemeteries in Madapo Hills.
"Unta sundon ni sa mga tao ang mga (We hope that the public will abide by all the) traffic rules and regulations aron dili ta mag lisud ug samot during sa kalagkalag (so we will have a smoother traffic flow)," Española said.
Española said TMC will deploy all their traffic enforcers during the holiday break to ensure that all traffic laws will be imposed on the streets.
Liquors, gambling materials, loud sound system, and other equipment that might cause public nuisance will also be banned inside all cemeteries in Davao City.
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio reminded all Dabawenyos and those who intend to visit the city during the Halloween season to abide by all the regulations including the imposition of bladed and deadly weapons. (Jereco O. Paloma)
