COTABATO CITY -- Another bomb was found beside the national highway in Barangay Kambingi, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, an official said.
Colonel Prudencio Asto, Army's 6th Infantry Division Public Affairs Chief, said residents saw a yellow plastic bag with a bomb inside made of two mortar shells.
Members of the Army's Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team responded and poured water on the plastic bag with the assistance of the Maguindanao Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The 60 mm mortar was attached to a nine-volts battery with Nokia 3310 cellphone as triggering mechanism, he said.
It might be recalled that an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in front of the Land Bank of the Philippines in Tacurong City at 7:15 a.m. Thursday.
No casualty was recorded.
Asto said the incidents are handiworks of peace spoilers who are against the framework agreement forged by the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. (Edgardo Fuerzas))
