THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Davao said they are still conducting investigation to trace the exact location of Ryan "Baktin" Yu, following reports that the wanted carnap gang leader has already left the country.
Florentino Diputado, alien control officer of the BI, told Sun.Star Davao on Tuesday they have stepped up monitoring in countries where Yu could possibly be in hiding.
Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte earlier said Yu could most likely be hiding in Thailand, Taiwan or Malaysia by this time.
However, the vice mayor said he is confident that the long arms of the law will soon catch up with him.
In a radio report Tuesday, Director Gregorio Pimentel of Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said he believes Yu is no longer in the Philippines.
He also denied having connections with the fugitive, who is allegedly armed and dangerous.
He earlier admitted that they are having difficulties implicating Yu in the illegal activities since his name never surfaces in any paper trails they gathered.
Pimentel added that most of those charged in the past were buyers of carnapped vehicles since the documents covering the vehicle are in the buyers' names.
Duterte has offered P5-million bounty for anyone who could bring Yu's head.
"You can cut his head off, put it in the ice to preserve it and present it before me before you can get the P5-million reward," Duterte said.
He said that an informer will earn P2 million for the information leading to the arrest of Yu and a P4-million reward if Yu will be brought dead.
