THE Traffic Management Center (TMC) observed moderate vehicular traffic around cemeteries although they are not disregarding that it will become worse today.
Retired Colonel Desiderio Cloribel, TMC chief on Thursday told Sun.Star Davao over the phone that traffic situations especially in major cemeteries across the city are expected to build up.
The re-routing scheme is being implemented on all roads leading to Davao Memorial Park along McArthur Highway in Matina, Chinese Cemetery on Sarenas Road, Buhangin Memorial Park along Buhangin-Cabantian Road, and in five neighboring cemeteries in Madapo Hills.
Cloribel said there have been no major problems encountered by the city’s traffic team on the first day of the four-day weekend which has started Thursday.
TMC has deployed its more or less 300 traffic personnel to man the streets of the city.
Meanwhile, the City Government of Davao warned Dabawenyos to avoid bringing prohibited items inside cemeteries.
Erwin Alparaque, assistant city administrator, said these items are: alcoholic drinks, gambling materials, loud sound system, gardening tools, weapons of all kind, and other equipment that causes public nuisance. (JOP)
