Truck, taxi drivers sued for road massacre

POLICE on Friday filed charges before the City Prosecutor's Office (CPO) against the truck and taxi drivers who figured in a deadly three-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of five people in Km. 20, Barangay Los Amigos, Tugbok District Wednesday afternoon.
Charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide with serious physical injuries and damage to property before the CPO were Ernesto Tan Venezuela, 48, of 232 Ulas Crossing of Talomo District and Ronald Patrombon Cayme, 31, of 444 Jerome, Solid Street in Agdao.
Venezuela is the driver of the Isuzu Forward truck, which collided head on with a Multicab full of family members. Cayme is the driver of the Toyota taxi, which was bumped by Venezuela, causing him to swerve into the opposite lane.
A total of 15 people, including three pedestrians, were hurt during the accident.
Senior Inspector Antonio Villacarlos Jr., chief of the Tugbok police station, said the suspects were charged based on the complaint filed by one Hilda A. Maddas.
A source from the CPO said the two accused were brought before Prosecutor Jay Karel P. Sanchez II for inquest proceedings around 11:15 a.m. Friday
Investigation of the Tugbok Police Station showed that Venezuela, who is driving a truck loaded with softdrinks, collided head-on with the multicab.
The passengers in the multicab were on the way home to Tamayong in Calinan District from a beach picnic in Toril when the accident happened.
