Man faces charges for rape of sis, slay attempt on mom

A YOUNG man is facing criminal charges for allegedly raping his six-year-old sister and stabbing his 35-year-old mother last Monday.

Charged with attempted matricide and rape, was Man-Man (real name withheld to protect the victim's dignity), 18, of Buhangin in Davao City.

A source from the City Prosecutor's Office, who refused to be identified for lack of authority to speak, said the suspect was brought before Prosecutor Gaye C. Magdagasang on Tuesday morning for inquest proceedings.

Initial investigation conducted by Buhangin police showed that at around 12:05 p.m. on January 15, the mother found her son molesting her daughter under a mango tree near their house.

The mother confronted and slapped her son, but the latter retaliated and stabbed his mother's back. The woman, who sustained a stabbed wound on her back, eluded the next attempt of her son to stab her and ran away. She sought for police assistance.

The police arrested the accused, who is now detained at the Buhangin police station.
